This is Diabolical Lies,

a long-form culture and politics podcast by

and that aims to make you smarter, saner, and exponentially more unbearable at family get-togethers.

Here’s a sampling of our most popular episodes:

While most podcasts are fueled by advertising sponsors and the oversight of some umbrella media conglomerate, Diabolical Lies is independently owned and 100% fueled by listener support.

Why?

Because corporate intervention and oversight into everyday civilian life in America is currently at an all-time high, and attention capture is a trillion dollar industry, and people deserve at least one small space in their lives where they can feel empowered to think, learn, dissect ideas, and be entertained without also feeling like they are being waterboarded to death by consumerism and capitalism at fifteen minute intervals.

Did that sentence start out relatively inflammatory and somehow manage to end up somewhere even more unsettling? Yes.

Is the statement still true? Double yes.

Is this symbolic of how we run this show? Triple yes.

At the end of the day, we think this podcast is worth paying for. Thousands of others do too.

Come on in, the water’s warm!

…and by warm, we mean the planet’s burning and Jennifer Aniston keeps shilling water bottles and the American Dream is dead and Nancy Pelosi’s stocks are at an all-time high and midwives are getting arrested and our congressional representatives couldn’t locate the vulva even if Gloria Steinem personally handed them a labeled anatomical diagram and Chappell Roan would just like a moment to breathe, okay? And no, injectables will not make you happier, and yes, Usha Vance’s aesthetic choices are open to public commentary, and when you are ready, dear reader, we would like to explain to you how all of this, every last bit of it, is inextricably connected.
